How to Sign In and File a Return on West Virginia’s Website
The first step in filing your West Virginia sales tax return is to log into https://mytaxes.wvtax.gov/_/.
If you do not have a username and password you need to click on “Don’t have a logon? Register here” and then follow the instructions for signing up.
Step 1: You should now be on your home page. Click on the account that you want to file returns for. In this case, we are using a Combined Sales & Use Tax account (used for out of state remote sellers).
Click on the file return link with the date you intend to file. In this example, you see “File return for 30-Sep-2019” under Account Alerts at the top of the page. This will take you to the return.
Step 2: Enter your sales tax-related information.
Start by entering your Gross Amount and Deductions on lines 1 and 2. Make sure that if you have deductions that you also use the Schedule D worksheet.
Step 3: Schedule D (if you have deductions, exemptions or credits).
On this schedule, enter any information that pertains to your situation.
Step 4: Time for a review.
If everything looks correct click “Submit.” If not, you can choose “Previous” to go back and make changes. Please note, once you click “Submit” you cannot make changes.
Hooray! You have now filed your return.
Make sure to save the confirmation number that comes up on the screen. We also recommend saving a copy of your return for your records.
How to Pay West Virginia’s Sales Tax
It is now time to pay sales tax to the state of West Virginia. To make a payment, from the home screen select the appropriate account. Then under “I Want To” select “Make a one-time payment”.
Enter your payment information and submit. You have now made a payment! Don’t forget to print and/or save your confirmation number.

Click on the “Submissions” tab on the homepage and click the return or payment you want to copy.
Under “Pending,” select the return you want access to. Under “I Want to,” chose “Print Submission.”
