Before you begin the process of registering with the state, make sure you have access to the following information:
To get started, choose the link titled “Get a Minnesota Tax ID Number” on the website.
Next, click “Begin the registration process” and follow the prompts that walk you through the process of registering with the state of Minnesota.
You will come to a screen in the registration process where you will see this prompt, “add all local and other taxes you are required to report”.
This will take you to screen where you will select “ALL” to add local sales tax.

A paper copy of your Sales and Use Permit will arrive at your mailing address within 7-10 business days. This will have your Minnesota Tax ID number on it and list your filing frequency.
