Before you begin the process of registering with the state, make sure you have access to the following information:
To get started, choose the link titled “Apply for a New Tax Account (TC-69)” on the website.
Follow the prompts to apply for your sales and use tax license with Utah. Note, you will not be able to complete and submit the permit application until you attach your TC-51, the Utah Nexus Questionnaire.
You will receive your sales and use tax license from Utah in the mail within 7-14 business days. You will likely receive three letters from Utah. The first one will be a welcome letter from Utah that has your account information on it. The next letter will be your sales and use tax license. Last, a couple of days later, you will receive your Utah PIN number. You will need the PIN number to create and access your online account.
Once you receive the above information, you will be able to create an online ID at Utah’s Taxpayer Access Point here. Select “Log in/Create a TAP login.” Follow the prompts to create your online ID. Once you have finished, you can log back into the account with the authorization code that was emailed to you.
